How to use this calculator
Enter your hourly rate, the hours you work each week, and the number of paid weeks in a year. The annual, monthly and weekly gross figures update as you type. Use 52 weeks if your holiday is paid, or fewer if it isn’t.
Worked example: £15 an hour for 37.5 hours over 52 weeks gives £15 × 37.5 × 52 = £29,250 a year, or £2,437.50 a month and £562.50 a week before tax.
The formula
Annual salary = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. All figures are gross — before income tax, National Insurance and other deductions. To see what you’d actually keep, run the annual figure through the salary calculator.
How many weeks should you use?
If you’re paid for every week of the year (including holidays), use 52. If you only get paid for weeks you actually work — common for term-time, seasonal or zero-hours work — subtract your unpaid weeks. A typical full-time worker with 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday still uses 52, because holiday weeks are paid.
